CODY WOODWORTH
CLEANS UP IN MUD AT REM!!!
New Pro Cody
Woodworth went to REM for the Saturday
Motocross and to check out his new 4 strokes in a race condition.
Cody has been working hard learning to change his style on the 2
strokes that would allow an easy transition to the 4 stroke bikes.
It appears to be working, Cody pulled the holeshot over all of the
250 and 450 pros. He had Preston Tilford on him for the first
lap (Cody didn't run practice, so his first lap was a sight lap)
then began to pull away as Tilford tried everything to catch him.
No one came close and Cody won the moto convincingly.
In moto 2 Cody's gate malfunctioned and he was dead last behind the
250s and 450s. He started to put on a charge that would have
him pass all the 450s, Preston Tilford and the only one in front of
him was a World FIM MX2 rider who was a mud specialist. Cody
charged and ended up 2 feet short of making the pass.
Excellent ride and check out his gear and bike, doesn't quite fit in
with the surroundings.
New Mxtrainer athlete
Brodie Keefe has
had to work through many issues but the hard work is starting to pay
off. Brodie pulled both holeshots and started to pull away
before a lapper forced him to crash. Brodie went 5-3 for 4th
overall in the novice class. He is starting to learn the
process and should do well in the coming year.

CODY WOODWORTH
#986 EARNS
NATIONAL LICENSE
Cody Woodworth earned his AMA National
License in just 2 race venues by placing 3rd, 2nd, 4th and 3rd
overall in his races out of 30 to 44 riders.
Cody also won 2 motos out riding all of the other pros. Cody
will now be looking at preparing for Hangtown and learning the
process to move forward in his career. He has shown that by
hard work, never giving up and listening to direction you can attain
your goals.
This is the next step in Cody's career. He has much to learn
but with his determination and motivation, 100% positive support
from his parents and hard work he will do fine this next season.
He will attend as many Nationals as possible then prepare for the
Supercross season in 2012.
Note: Cody has only been a pro for less than a year and is
already turning heads and attracting interest.
Update on TRAINING:
3.09.2011
A few things to think
about:
1. As parents you have
supported your athlete (son) since the beginning.
2. The cost per year for bikes, gear, parts, racing, travel
etc. etc. is extremely high. These are costs associated with
learning a profession.
3. As a parent you have seen your son improve each year.
Question: If your rider, at some point,
does not continue to improve,
if he starts to lack confidence in his abilities, if there is
tension in the support group,
WHAT DO YOU DO, QUIT-GIVE UP-CONTINUE
TO BE UPSET AT RACES-WATCH YOUR SON AS HE BECOMES DISAPPOINTED IN
HIMSELF AND HIS RESULTS-LET THE RACING UPSET THE FAMILY ETC.
ETC.?????????
The answer is
NO. Find out what is not working
and start the process for change. Look for answers to bring
fun back into the program and a way to allow the rider to return to
his confident and winning ways.
If you are experiencing any of these
issues, feel free to contact me for a phone evaluation and
recommendations. I do not charge for phone consultations for
any Motocross athlete and their support group.

RACE OPINION:
I recently attended a local race and was
approached by the parents of a rider who is in need of help.
As I watched him ride I could see he was struggling with confidence,
which was the main reason for his less than expected results.
He has excellent skills on the bike but in not believing 100% in his
ability those skills are not allowed to be used.
It takes time to make changes in athletes. First the bad
habits must be eliminated or the rider will be limited later when he
really needs to be successful. Once the bad habits are
identified and the program is put in place to correct them,
everyone must work at allowing the changes to take place.
The mental game in sports is always the limiting factor at the
highest level and for most riders at the lower levels also. A
rider races as he is inside. This means that if a rider has
not matured mentally and emotionally his riding will be erratic and
he will have ups and downs. The programs are designed to allow
a rider to mature on all levels so he will learn to be consistent
while moving towards his goals.
These changes will take time, but if a rider is serious about
succeeding, he must make changes in all aspects of his life and
career.
Think about it and do what is right for you.
CODY WOODWORTH #986
Racing Towards AMA Nationals
Cody recently moved to Pro in 2010 and
continued to work hard both on and off the track. While other
riders are unsure of what the future holds Cody knows what the plan
is and follows it.
The AMA Pro-am was held in Arizona and ACP. Cody went to the
line with 35 other pros in the 250 class. He pulled the
holeshot but lost the front end in the first turn, he got up and
adjusted the bike then began to start picking riders off one by one
until he ended up in 10th. In moto 2 he again pulled the
holeshot and proceeded to walk away from the other riders eventually
going 10-1 for 3rd overall and earning valuable points. On
Sunday he raced the 450 class on his 250 2 stroke getting mid pack
starts but working hard and eventually earned a 2nd overall.
Woodworth is well on his way to earning his points that will allow
him to start his National career.
2011 Race Program:
There are a number of races you should be
racing if you are an amateur.
Mammoth Motocross
is a track in the Sierras at an elevation of 8600 ft.. The
track will make you feel like a Champion in practice and sometimes a
novice in the race. It will be rough and line selection is
critical. Physical conditioning is very important at this
altitude. I have been fortunate to have Champions in Mammoth
in every class from novice to Pro. Start your training now,
June comes very quickly.
Next is the Ponca National in Oklahoma.
This is a National that is a little easier to get into but the
competition is always tough and the heat and humidity will take its
toll if you are not on top of your program. Shorter motos,
higher intensity and a full week of racing always makes for great
racing.
Finally if you are trying to make a name
for yourself you will need to qualify for
Loretta Lynn's National.
You will be racing on a tough track for 25 minutes in very high heat
and humidity. Winning at L.L. will bring a lot of attention to
your efforts and help with the next years racing. I have had
the pleasure of working with a number of riders who have won L.L.
and are now or have been National pro athletes.
There are three riders who have moved into
the pro ranks and are racing the SX series at this time.
Weston Peick
is doing much better this year making the 450 mains and finishing
13th and 14th with the best riders in the world. Weston
was able to garner 2 9th place finishes in his first year of
National pro.
Jake Canada
has moved into the SX series as a 250f rider and has place 11th and
14th after a mishap with Josh Hansen while he was running 8th.
Jake will continue his learning process and should move forward this
year.
Brandon Brady
has been learning the ropes of SX and will be
riding the 250f series. Look for Brandon to start placing
where he belongs in the near future.
Cody Woodworth has been working hard and
winning many local pro races. He will now be working towards
his National pro license and will ride the last few rounds of the
National in 2011. He has already been approached by a
satellite team for the 2012 SX series and is looking forward to
having a solid year of racing and learning.
Good luck with the upcoming season and make
sure to learn and listen to direction. Work hard and have a
solid plan in place to move forward within your career.
Alan Gerkey MXS, CPT MXTrainer.
Things to think about:
Some riders will go through the ranks very
quickly and become successful others will need more time to mature
and move forward at their specific pace.
A note to parents looking for someone to assist their athlete:
There are times when I end up working with the parents of riders
more than the rider to allow the athlete to do his job. Things
that have worked to a degree at the amateur level may not work at
the pro level. The biggest error a support group can make is
to allow an athlete to enter a program, see the improvements start
to come and then go right back into the same routine at a race that
was in place prior to entering the program. It is
difficult for parents not to step in when they have been there for
the riders career through the amateur ranks, but for the athlete to
succeed the support group must step down a notch or two and observe
rather than try to take over. The parents need to be in the
program for support of the rider but need to work with the program
as a team member.
When a son is changing into a man there will be friction with the
family at times just for the reason he is growing up and trying to
make decisions on his own. As parents we know the "problems"
that can come out of this growing time and try to curtail any
activities that may cause him "problems". This is when the son
thinks hs is "right" and the parents think they are "right".
This is life, but now we have a career involved and are trying to
get the athlete to succeed and have a solid future within the sport
everyone has worked so hard at for so many years. Be aware of
this and look for the right answers to help the situation, you may
just find that everyone will be rewarded with success not only in MX/SX
but in life.
2011:
Brandon Brady will be riding for a
satellite team and will make his SX debut at Anaheim 1. He has
been working hard and riding well but since the bikes came in 10
days ago and there has been "0" testing with his suspension etc. we
will be compensating until proper testing can be completed.
Cody Woodworth is ready to get back to work
and will be looking for his National Pro license this year.
Getting his points and racing a few rounds of the 2011 Nationals
will set the tone for 2012 and the SX season.
New Year Update:
It is 2011 and everyone will be starting
with a clean slate coming into the season. Expectations will
run high and there will be ups and downs just like any other year.
Keeping your focus and sticking to your plan will be the most
important things you can do.
Pro CODY WOODWORTH #986 WINS 3 WEEKS IN A
ROW......
CODY WOODWORTH has been
racing the Friday night races at Milestone MX and has been charging
to the lead in every moto for 3 weeks. He has been consistent
in his training and racing, it is paying off.
Pro BRANDON BRADY #205 WINS TRIPLE CROWN
#1....
Brandon Brady raced the first round of the
Triple Crown race in Ca. and won both motos while nursing an injured
shoulder and wrist. Brandon is working on his SX license and
should be ready for Anaheim 1 in 2011. Good job Brandon.
CODY WOODWORTH, BRANDON BRADY 1-2 AT
MILESTONE.
With a low turn out both
Cody and Brandon put in solid rides to take 1 and 2 at Milestone,
both winning a moto and setting the fastest laps. Both have
been working on their own development areas and have been showing
excellent improvement.
BRANDON BRADY COMES VERY CLOSE at PALA.
BRANDON BRADY raced the 450 pro at Pala
ending up third in the first moto, having a couple of issues.
In the second moto he pushed hard coming through the pack and ended
up right on second place at the finish earning the "HARD CHARGER"
AWARD with the fastest lap time.
CODY WOODWORTH takes 2nd overall at the
Amateur National at Pala.
Woodworth riding his 125 2 stroke took
second overall at Pala raceway in the 250f class with 8 pros on the
line.
CODY WOODWORTH pushes to 2nd overall at
MILESTONE.
Cody race his first pro race at Milestone
MX. In the first moto he started in second out of 7 pros.
Bruce Rutherford (who qualified 12th fastest at Hangtown in the
National 450 Pro class took the lead with Cody staying within 1.5
seconds per lap on his 250 2 STROKE. I bet Bruce that Cody
would pull the holeshot in the second moto and it was on. Cody
forced into the lead before the first turn and Bruce ended up owing
me $ (which I split with Cody) $2.00. Bruce would get
around Cody but Woodworth put up a solid fight and rode consistent
laps to take second overall in his first pro race.
CODY WOODWORTH moves to PRO.
CODY WOODWORTH and I sat down and discussed
his move to Pro. He is on a performance based program and has
been putting in the work agreed to, so we decided to move him
forward.
CODY WOODWORTH TOP INTERMEDIATE!
Cody Woodworth decided to race the night
series at Milestone Motocross this last Friday night. Nick
Schmidt who is sponsored by Milestone and has been winning the pro
class consistently there had to work past Cody both motos as
Woodworth pulled the holeshot in combined pro/intermediate races on
his 250 2 stroke. Nick was only about a second and a half
faster on his highly modified Kawasaki 450 4 stroke. Cody
turned in consistent lap times to come in second overall in the pro
division and first intermediate. Look for Cody to make the
move into the pro ranks shortly.
BRANDON BRADY takes REM and Glen Helen
WINS!
Brandon Brady went to REM for Saturday
racing on his new Kawi 250f and ended up working through the pack to
second in moto one, right behind National rider Sean Borkenhagen.
In Moto 2 Brandon passed Borky and pulled a 20 second lead by the
end of the race.
Sunday Brandon went to Glen Helen National track where he dominated
both motos of the pro division with big leads over Drew Gossellar.
DALTON BAILEY getting ready for Loretta Lynns
6.14.2010
Dalton Bailey qualified for Lorettas through the tough Southwest
Regionals. Getting great starts and putting down solid motos
allowed Dalton his first trip to L.L. in the highly contested 450
intermediate division. Dalton continues to move forward due to
his ability to listen and execution of instruction.
Mammoth Mountain Motocross
6.13.2010
Mammoth Mountain Motocross is coming up
fast. Make sure to work hard and be ready for the altitude.
Jeagher LaFountaine Tribute
6.09.2010
A Tribute to my
Friend JL59:
In memory of Jeagher
Lafountaine
Those of you who
were fortunate enough to know him have probably seen the many
different sides to Jeagher. He could be serious and have a deep
discussion on many subjects that were years ahead of his time or he
could give you one of those famous looks and smiles that would have
you laughing till your jaw would lock up.
Jeagher was very
complex in some ways and very simple in others. He was an old soul
in a young body with a huge heart trying to reach out in a different
ways to all that knew him.
He was a self
taught musician and would surprise you with his vocals and guitar
playing. He was a perfectionist in an imperfect world and always
believed he could achieve whatever goals were set before him. You
never knew which Jeagher you were getting until HE decided to let
you know. He was private yet would open up if he trusted you.
He was always
looking for unorthodox ways of doing things, (The Jeagher Way)
whether that was on the track looking for lines through the hay
bales, pushing you into a center divider while following him to the
track or just wearing his “special gray beanie” listening to never
before heard of music in his van.
I’m not really sure
anyone really knew the true essence and soul of Jeagher, he was open
but private in so many ways. He defended those who he believed to
be his friends and would let you know if he did not approve of
something you did. He was always there for someone who needed him
and would always go out of his way to help.
While his ability on
a motorcycle allowed him success within motocross it was his ability
to bond with everyone that he will be remembered for.
Jeagher’s impact on
those who knew him will last forever. A day will not go by that we
do not hear or see something that will remind us of Jeagher, he will
be missed by those of us left on this earth.
I am sure he is
somewhere sharing and making others laugh and when asked or called
the message will be the same “I’m probably out doin somethin”.
Love you Jeagher, we
will see you soon.
Your friend,
Alan Gerkey
Motocross Update:
4.22.2010
CODY WOODWORTH is the 2
STROKE 125 Champion.
Cody Woodworth continues to improve as he
raced the MTA 2 Stroke Championships at Glen Helen dominating the
125 and 250 intermediates.
Cody won 3 of 4 motos and would have been the 250 Champion but a
bike issue forced him out of the last moto. He pulled
away in all 4 motos by huge margins leaving the rest of the field to
fight for second. Excellent ride and congratulations to Cody
on your Championship.
Motocross Update:
3.30.2010
DALTON BAILEY charges to
top finishes at Hangtown L.L. Qualifier.
Dalton Bailey has gone through major
transformations since coming into the program. He was a rider
who had to work hard and build from the bottom up.
He is one rider who never gives up and continues to focus on what is
needed for him to succeed. His perseverance and listening to
direction is now paying off.
Dalton raced the Hangtown Loretta Lynn qualifier taking:
1st: 450B Stock
1st: Collegeboy
2nd: 250B Stock
2nd: 450B Mod
3rd: 250B Mod
Dalton works very hard during the week
to allow his weekend races to be successful. Keep your eye on
him, there is more to come.
Motocross Training:
3.01.2010
15 MINUTE RULE:
Hopefully this will help the riders and their parent/parents work
together with less emotion and allow the rider constructive
information during a race.
Every racer has good and not so good races. When the athlete comes
in from a race and it did not go well, he is disappointed and upset
for whatever reasons did not allow him to do better. His adrenaline
is flowing and for many the emotions are running high.
If the parent comes into the pits shortly after the race (he/she) is
usually not happy and upset as well.
It is during this time that most of the verbal confrontations
between rider and parent can and will go out of control. Very little
positive information is given usually yelling and an escalation of
the situation is the result.
If the parent will wait 15 minutes (this can be adjusted for obvious
reasons) before talking to the rider, both will be in a more calm
state and then the information given and received will most likely
help with the next moto while not causing undue stress for everyone.
For the parents out there who have a tendency to be highly
emotional, try this during your next race and see what the results
are.
Motocross Update:
1.31.2010
JEAGHER LAFOUNTAINE wins
again! Gold Cup at Glen Helen.
Jeagher Lafountaine
came away with the 250f Pro
win dominating the first moto after he got a second place start and
moved into first on the first lap. He charged all the way to
the finish with a huge lead. In the second moto he was
in third but lost another position when he hit some mud in the back
section of the track. With only 5 laps he had to make passes
quickly as he came through. He
passed all four riders by the third lap and pulled away to a solid
win with a 1-1.
Cody Woodworth
had a couple issues in the first moto but
after discussion and checking a couple of lines out he came back to
annihilate the 125 two stroke class in the second moto.

Cody pulled the holeshot and never looked back taking a well
deserved win.
Motocross/Supercross Update:

Jake Canada makes first SX main at Phoenix SX.
Jake Canada has practiced on a SX track for a
total of 17 days prior to the Phoenix Supercross. Even with the

passing Travis Baker for 6th to make it to his first main event.
Every step is important to an athletes career, continue to move forward.
Motocross Update:
1.03.2010
Brady and Lafountaine go 1-2 at Comp. Edge
PRO race.
With Lafountaine moving into the pro ranks he
proved that he knows how to handle the speed and pressure. Pulling
3 of 4 holeshots he led early but a few minor mistakes allowed Brandon
Brady to just get by and both riders put on a show that had everyone on
their feet watching. They pulled away from all other contenders
and raced to the checkers. Excellent ride by both in all four
motos.
Motocross Update:
1.03.2010

12.19.2009
Jeagher Lafountaine has been off racing for a
couple weeks but he was able to get everything together at Glen Helens
REM with a 1-1 win in front of Suzuki's Bryce Stewart. Stewart led

while Dylan Mckee was runner up with a 2nd overall.
Mickael Lieb went 1-1 in the 250 pro with a hard charging Brandon Brady
finishing a close 2nd with a 2-2 finish.
Motocross Training update:
12.14.2009
I am extremely busy with the riders 5 days a week
and usually do not have much time for standard clinics. Recently a
persistent rider would not give up and I decided to allow a 2 day clinic
in a one on one scenario. This rider was able to make solid
changes in his riding, as well as, learn what he needs to change to be
successful. The testing ranged from Motocross specific strength,
endurance, flexibility, functional assessment, max heart rate/AT heart
rate with training zones and most importantly a sport psychological
profile. It is always good to see a rider want to make changes and
is willing to work hard at doing so. Good luck with your
program.
Cody Young WINS REM 250 intermediate.
Cody Young has been completing double duty going
to EMT school full time, working out and riding. His new found
speed has led him to the win at Saturday REM.
RACERX Training Forum update.
I failed to mention that, Tim over at Racer X was
gracious enough to have me answer questions in the Racer X training
forum, which is part of the Virtual
Training program feature. This is an
excellent way for athletes who are not able to hire a trainer or riders
who just have questions can receive excellent information.
If you are in need of help do not hesitate to ask a question and all of
the trainers will try to help.

raced REM for the first time today) and by sticking to his plan he ended
up first overall. Good ride Jeagher.
Note: Dylan Mckee won the 450 Pro class over
Parker Eckman both are graduates of the MXTrainer program. Good
job guys.

and his family, all have made major changes in their approach to allow
Jeagher to do his job, WIN.

JAKE CANADA wins 450 PRO class at CMC Transcal.
Jake Canada has been working harder and it is
showing by winning the 450 pro class at Glen Helen where the
temperatures were over 100 degrees. The 30 minute motos show who
is training and who needs more work.
Jake came from behind in the 250 moto and started to pull away before
his bike had mechanicals on the second to last lap. Good effort
for Jake.
JEAGHER LAFOUNTAINE rides strong through
adversity.
Jeagher LAFOUNTAINE had been ill the week coming
into the race but elected to ride 4 races (8 motos) where he would come
in second and won both motos and the overall over Tyler Beremen .
Excellent ride for Jeagher.
Brandon BRADY takes second in his first 250 PRO

Michael LEIB wins the 250 B Championship at
Loretta Lynn's.

direction. Good luck to Michael as he transitions into the
professional ranks.
Cody YOUNG wins 3 of 6 motos at Loretta Lynn's.
Cody has been a solid novice rider but
needed to step up his program for L.L. where the best in the USA would
compete. He showed that he can charge hard through the pack and is
able to win from the front. He went 7-1-1 for a 2nd overall in the
250 C class. Good luck to Cody as he transitions into the
intermediate division.
Jeagher LAFOUNTAINE overcomes recent injuries to
place 5th in the 450 B Class at Loretta Lynn's.
Jeagher was involved in a crash while
training for L.L. and had lost use of his right arm for close to two
weeks. Subsequent injury management and mental strategies allowed
Jeagher to push hard for a well deserved 5th in the highly contested 450
B division. LAFOUNTAINE will be the one to watch in the upcoming
year.

MXTrainer athlete MICHAEL LEIB contiues his
winning ways.
Leib raced the Dunestown race at 395 on Sunday.
Again they started the pros on the first gate with the intermediates
second. Michael charged hard and passed all but one pro during the
motos. Leib won 6 out of 6 motos on a very windy dry 395 track.
MXTrainer athlete TRENT PUGMIRE WINS WASHOUGAL
MUDFEST.
Trent Pugmire made the trip to Washougal for the L.L. qualifier.
Washington decided to have rain the entire weekend. So much rain
that they had to build a separate track in a field for the second day of
racing. Every rider was having issues but Trent went 10-1 on
Saturday and Won the overall on Sunday. Showing that Ca. riders
can make it happen in the mud.
MXA says Weston Peick is the fittest at REM.
Motocross Update:
4.26.2009
WESTON PEICK, TRENT PUGMIRE, MICHAEL LEIB AT GLEN
HELEN
MXTrainer riders Weston Peick(450 pro), Trent
Pugmire(450 pro) and Michael Leib(250/450 intermediate)
went to Glen Helen for the MTA 4 stroke National race. The Glen
Helen track, designed for the upcoming National on May 23, had the start
running into Talladega but instead of making a 180 it went 90 degree up
the hill then dropped down into the main section which was followed by
the front sand section. The track became very rough with the turns
becoming tricky do to the off cambers.
Weston Peick came out in 5 during moto 1
but quickly moved into 2nd where he would finish behind Dean Wilson who
was up front from the beginning. In the second moto Peick again
started in 4th but went to third behind Pugmire and Wilson. Wilson
had issues and Pugmire
took over the lead with Peick in second. Weston pulled on Trent
and the two came together at the bottom of Mt. Saint Helens with Westons
bike almost going upside down. Peick recovered and took off after
Pugmire again but they would finish in this order.
Trent Pugmire would win
the moto with
Peick second, but PEICK WON THE OVERALL FOR
THE DAY WITH PUGMIRE SECOND OVERALL..
Good job to both of these riders for sticking with the plan.
Michael Leib came out to see how he would
do on the rough Glen Helen track. He had to work through a couple
of riders but eventually would win all of
his motos except in the 450 where his chain
broke in the back section. Great ride for Michael on a tough
track.
Motocross Update:
4.19.2009
MICHAEL LEIB DOMINATES CMC AT PERRIS!
MXTrainer/Honda of Houstan/Rocket Exhaust athlete
Michael Leib decided to race the CMC race at Perris raceway. He
won both motos of the 250f class with excellent lap times and
consistency. We have Michael on a 450 at this time and decided to
see how he is adapting. He was in fourth at the start of moto 1
but quickly moved onto the rear of Jeldera's bike. Leib passed the
#275 and pulled away. In the second moto Michael pulled the
holeshot and not only won the intermediate class but passed all of the
first gate pros in the process. Excellent ride and look for
Michael to do well at Mammoth this year.
Motocross Update:
4.18.2009
WESTON PEICK TAKES REM WIN!
MXTrainer rider Weston Peick will be riding the
first few rounds of the Nationals this year. In preparation we
sent him to Glen Helen REM for the 2x35 minute motos. Weston
pulled the holeshot and pulled away with the win posting the fastest lap
time of the day. National rider Balbi was in second and was unable
to make any time on Peick. In the second moto Weston again took
charge but lappers would play a part in the outcome. As Peick
would come up on the lappers they would try to race until they saw who
it was this was not the case with second place Balbi. On the last
lap two riders held Weston up and allowed Balbi to charge around on the
downhill, Peick squared up and passed him back only to upset Balbi.
In the next right hander Balbi ran directly into Weston which upset the
spectators but not Peick. Weston held his lines for the last 5
turns and won without issue. Weston is looking forward to the 2009
Nationals.
Motocross Update:
4.11.2009
MICHAEL LEIB WINS REM!
MXTrainer/Honda of Houstan/Rocket Exhaust
sponsored Michael Leib rode his first 2x35 minute motos at REM. He
was leading the first moto by 10 seconds when a lapped rider
inadvertently crossed over on Michael in the sand section. Michael
regrouped and ended up just a few seconds back in second. In the
second moto Michael pulled the holeshot and won by 15 seconds over
second place.
Motocross Update:
3.20.2009
SARA PRICE IS YOUR OAKHILL NATIONAL PRO CHAMPION!
Sara overcame a few issues and charged to her
first woman's Professional Championship at Oakhill Texas. She rode
smooth and in control to win moto one but had to work in the second moto
for second to win the overall. She will be riding a WORCS race
this weekend, good luck and have fun Sara.
Motocross Update:
3.1.2009
TRENT PUGMIRE WINS GOLD CUP AT PERRIS!
Trent has been working with me for the last 5
weeks coming off injury and other issues. He has been working on
areas in his riding and started putting everything together today at
Perris Raceway. He was second in the first 250f moto but after a
discussion he won the 2nd moto and the overall, then went 1-1 in the 450
class for 1st overall in both classes.
MXTrainer athlete Trent Pugmire.
MICHAEL LEIB POSTS FASTEST LAP TIME AT OAK HILL.
Michael has been on the road getting ready for
Whitney and Oak Hill, he was at the pre-race warm up this weekend where
he posted the fastest lap time and was coming hard into second just a
wheel short of the win. Look for Michael at Whitney and the Oak
Hill National. MXTrainer athlete
Michael Leib.
Motocross Update:
2.22.2009
LEIB REPEATS AT CMC GLEN HELEN!
Michael Leib again dominated the 250F
Intermediates and Open class by winning all four motos. We are
looking for Michael to do well at the upcoming Texas Nationals.
Motocross Update:
2.15.2009
MICHAEL LEIB GOES 4 FOR 4.
MXTrainer athlete Michael Leib has been making the
right decisions and it showed at the CMC race held at Racetown 395 where
he won every moto he entered.
Watch for the MXTrainer/Honda of Houston/Rocket Exhaust rider this
season as he will be ready to do his best.
New MXTrainer athlete Jake Canada came from dead
last on his KX 250F to a close second in the 250 PRO class.
Watch for Jake in the 450 and 250 Pro division as he improves throughout
the 2009 season.
Motocross Update:
2.02.2009
WESTON PEICK WINS AGAIN!
MXTrainer rider Weston Peick came out on top again at the CMC Golden
State
race held at Starwest in California. Excellent starts and line
selection assisted Weston to his win over Trent Pugmire (Pugmire has
just started with the MXTrainer program), Jake Canada, Joey Rossi and
other fast 450 pros.
MICHAEL LEIB STEPS IT UP!
MXTrainer and Honda of Houston rider Michael Leib proved to everyone
that he has been doing his homework on and off the track. Michaels
last place gate pick forced him to the far outside and he started close
to last out of the 20 intermediate riders. Michael put his head
down and pushed to second place just behind holeshot winner Nick Paluzzi.
In moto 2 Nick again got a great start but Michael was right behind him
with a preset plan. He watched his lines then set him up for the
pass on the last lap. Paluzzi came back on him hard but Michael
outrode him to the finish getting the overall. Excellent job and
shows what hard work will accomplish.
Motocross Update:
1.24.2009
MICHEAL LEIB AND
WESTON PEICK
BOTH DOMINATE!
WESTON PEICK wins the
450 pro class at Competitive Edge CMC race. Travis Baker rode well
with a holeshot, but Weston passed him on the fourth lap and took
the win with Baker about 6 seconds back.
WESTON PEICK
also won the four stroke class over Blake Bagget with the same deciding
factor. All of the racers were riding well but Weston made sure he
was at the front when the checkered flag came out.
MICHAEL LEIB wins the
REM with Ryan Omeara
coming in second. Good ride for both of these riders.
Motocross Update:
1.05.2009
The 2009 National Training Program transitions
into this January. We will be focusing on each riders needs
analysis both on and off the bike. While many athletes continue
their previous programs hoping it will work in the future, we will be
moving forward allowing each rider to improve in all areas.
WESTON PEICK wins the PRO class at Glen
Helen. Weston was sick and probably should not have raced this
venue, but we made the decision to get some gate time on his new bikes.
The results were 2 holeshots and two wins over some excellent riders
(Trent Pugmire, Blake Bagget etc.) Look for Weston Peick in 2009.
SARA PRICE wins
everything in Texas. Sara will turning pro this year and should be
a force in the WMA.
Motocross Update:
11.18.2008
DYLAN MCKEE is your
2008 Amateur Open Four Stroke CHAMPION.
STEVE DREW is your
2008 AMA SUPERMOTO NATIONAL CHAMPION.
Both of these athletes have worked hard and deserve their respective
Championships. Congratulations to both of you.
Hard work, determination and listening to
direction will bring the best out in any athlete.
Motocross Update:
10.28.2008
MICHAEL LEIB, Honda
Support Rider, returned to racing this last weekend and won all 4 motos.
This was his first race since Ponca and even though he was not 100% was
still able to put together four excellent motos proving that you never
lose your speed.
In the previous weeks racing, DYLAN MCKEE
won both of his motos as well as DALTON
BAILEY who placed first in the intermediate
class.
Motocross Update:
9.14.2008
It was another good weekend of racing at Glen
Helen.
WESTON PEICK
took the pro class with a 1-1 while MXtrainer rider
PARKER ECKMAN won the intermediate 450 class with a 1-1 as well.
Again it shows that if a rider will listen to direction and do what is
asked (as well as the parents and support group) success will be the end
result.
MICHAEL LEIB:
Factory Honda Support rider is back on the bike and is looking as strong
as ever. Look for Michael to be at the top during the 2009 season
and beyond.
Motocross Update:
8.31.2008
Yamaha Support rider WESTON PEICK Wins Barona Oaks
Pro Class
Loretta Lynn "Motocross B Champion" Weston Peick
won his first major race of the year battling with some of the best new
pros. He had his work cut out for him with Loretta Lynn motocross
B mod champion Dean Wilson, Loretta Lynn motocross lites champion Travis
Baker, Bruce Rutherford, former Supercross winner Justin Buckelew and
others lining up trying to take their share of the purse.
Rutherford rode a flawless race in Moto 1 while Dean Wilson went down
trying to push forward. Weston pushed through from 5th up to 2nd
where he would run out of time. In Moto 2 Dean Wilson pulled a
great holeshot and was looking good out front, Peick moved into
third and eventually 2nd, with 3 laps to go he moved up on Wilsons rear
fender but tried a little too hard and Wilson was able to gap about 2
seconds on him. Weston went 2-2 for first overall.
Weston has started his new "MX" program in preparation for the
professional ranks. We will be using the next few months for
corrective techniques and allowing him to learn the new system.
Honda Support rider MICHAEL LEIB has been
working hard after Ponca, where less than acceptable track conditions
forced an issue. Look for Michael to be at the top of his game
when he returns 100%.
CALIFORNIA vs. East Coast
8.19.2008
It would seem that riders who practiced and trained on the East Coast
would have an advantage when racing Loretta Lynn's, since they would be
acclimated to the heat and humidity. I would have to agree with
this statement, but apparently the racers from California were able to
adapt by training in the heat. California had
13 CHAMPIONS at Loretta's, more than any other state. Being able
to ride every day with the fastest riders and working hard appears to be
the reason for the success of these talented riders.
Congratulations to all who made it to L.L., you are the up and coming
Champions of the future.
WAITING TILL IT IS TOO LATE!
8.12.2008
This scenario has happened time and time again over the years and its
time for me to share what changes need to be made.
A racer trains and practices for a solid year in preparation for the
premier Motocross National of the year Loretta Lynn's.
He or she comes to L.L. ready to win goes into practice with high hopes
and has good times. The rider lines up on the gate for the first
moto and completely falls
apart or the rider goes down and finishes
in a poor position that will not allow him or her to win an
Championship. This is called a "throw
away moto" and what it does is take the pressure off of the
rider who will then appear to be ok and do
well the next two motos thus everyone thinks ( and falsely so) that the
rider is now ok.
Then the same thing happens over and over again because no one takes
time to understand and change the mental status of
the rider to win a Championship. Winning Championships at
the highest level is not easy and a lot of things must come together for
this to happen even with the best talent.
If you have a rider who continues to do well at the local level and has
issues at the National level, please start a
program now for next year and don't wait till it is too
LATE.
Alan Gerkey "MXTrainer"
Motocross Update:
8.08.2008
We have been on the road with our riders for close to a month, attending
the Ponca and Loretta Lynn Nationals. All of the riders worked
hard this year and it paid off with Championships.
Loretta Lynn CHAMPION - WESTON PEICK #31
Weston Peick is your Loretta Lynn National Champion in the Motocross B
division. An interesting fact is that Weston has only raced at
Loretta's one time before and came here his second year ready to win.
This is an outstanding feat when you consider that many riders race
their entire careers and never win at L.L. Not only did Weston win
in the stock division by also stood on the podium with a 3rd in the
Motocross B modified. Weston has proved to be the most consistent rider
of the year and is looking forward to racing at the next level in his
career.
I have worked with Weston and his father for two years and this shows
what hard work and proper direction coming together will allow to
happen. Congratulations to Weston and his family.
Ponca CHAMPION - ISODORO "ISSY" CHERES #127
Issy Cheres started emailing me about a year ago. He is from
Mexico and wanted to race Motocross in America. Issy's background
was not the usual athlete I look for when taking on a new rider.
His persistence forced me to allow him a chance to come here and have a
consultation. Prior to making his decision to race he had rode
with his father and entered a couple beginner enduro's in Mexico.
His lifestyle was also something we had to change. This athlete
could only ride 3 laps before becoming almost exhausted when he first
came here and his style/skill level was far below what our beginner
level expected. After I placed him on the level of training
appropriate for him he started working and riding improving week by
week. I would bet that his routine and dedication is more
consistent than many pro's. He completely changed his nutrition
program, started a gym program and rode 4 to 5 days per week. The
results speak for themselves: Issy is your 2008 Ponca Champion in
the stock class and also ended up 3rd overall in the modified division.
Congratulations Issy on your American Championship.

Motocross Update:
7.08.2008
MICHAEL LEIB #170
has returned to riding after being taken out by an inexperienced rider.
Michael is looking good and has returned to his winning form. Leib
will be training for Ponca and Loretta Lynn's for the remaining time
here in Ca. Watch for Michael to be at the front of the pack in
the intermediate class.
Issy Cheres #127
wins his class at the Glen Helen Dealer Series with a 3-1 for the
overall. Issy will be competing at Ponca this year and will be
working hard in preparation for this upcoming National.
Preston
Tilford #74 wins 4 motos at Glen Helen Dealer Series.
Preston rode excellent on Sunday at the Dealer series. Prior to
his working with the program he had a few issues, one of which was
starts. After working with him for only a few months he pulled 2
holeshots and 2 second place starts out of 4 motos. Watch for
Preston in the intermediate class at the local So. Cal. tracks.
Motocross Update:
6.30.2008
MAMMOTH MOTOCROSS
This year at Mammoth was quite different from previous years, at least
in some respects. Mammoth is usually one of the most picturesque
places you will find but fires in surrounding areas did not allow the
blue skies to come through and forced our riders to train inside.
WESTON PEICK: the 450
INTERMEDIATE CHAMPION at
Mammoth.
Consistency wins Championships and
Weston Peick was the
most consistent intermediate racer at Mammoth this year with a 1-3-2.
WESTON PEICK overcame a number of issues to
finish FIRST in the
450 intermediate division,
3rd in the 250F and 2nd
in the open class.
In the 250F class Weston
charged from
15th to third and was pulling on the front
two but ran out of time and burned a lot of energy fighting for
position. In the process he beat many of the top intermediates and
showed everyone that he will be a force in this
class. Most think of Weston as a 450 rider but he has shown
he has the speed on whatever bike he is on.
Open Division: We were looking for
a win in this class even with tough competition but found out after the
race that his bike overheated and was all but
out of coolant. It was obvious that
he was disappointed and that the bike was slower as the race went on but
he kept the bike together for a well deserved
SECOND.
We have already started training for Ponca and Loretta's where the heat
and humidity will add another variable to conditioning.
Motocross Update:
6.21.2008
One of our top intermediate riders was injured at the
Loretta Lynn Regional. He had just
won his first two motos and was leading his third when a Pro rider (I
have doubts on this riders classification as he was passed by the second
gate intermediates on the second lap of every race) looked back at our
intermediate and then proceeded to cross over on a jump resulting in our
rider and the pro to crash hard. Both riders could have been
seriously injured from this type of poor riding.
Our rider who would have easily qualified for L.L. with a 1-1-20 for
7th, ended up in the hospital The other issue is that a
DOUBLE GATE was used during a
regional which I find to be poor
judgment on the part of the sanctioning body. Racing is dangerous
and tough under normal circumstances so to allow this type of situation
is unacceptable especially at a Regional for the number one race of the
year. We will be working on changing this so
no other riders are injured unnecessarily.
Mammoth Motocross is in full swing with the
vets this weekend. Most of our riders were up on Thursday for
jetting and track acclimation. We look forward to next week and
working hard to accomplish our goals. All riders will be on a
twice a day training program getting ready for the rough Mammoth track.
Racer Development Program:
Darryn Durham and
Taylor Futrell will be working on the East coast for most of the
year then come to California for their final training program and to get
them ready for the final race of the year. Both of these athletes
are ready to move forward with their careers.
Motocross Update:
5.18.2008
WESTON PEICK returned to racing this
weekend and raced 10 motos on Sunday in preparation for Ponca.
With temperatures over 100,a couple of jetting issues and his hands
being a little sore he was still able to move to the front of the pack
in most of his races.
MICHAEL LEIB after racing the night before
came out to qualify for Ponca and was another rider running at the
front.
ISODORO CHERES qualified for his first
Ponca National.
Note: I'm not sure running Pros, Int. and women and beginners in
the same race is the best policy, especially when the lap times were 65
seconds. This issue should be addressed by the promoter.
Motocross Update:
5.17.2008
New MXTrainer rider MICHAEL LEIB has
started the process to move forward with his career. He just
returned from Colorado where he won 4 of his 6 motos preparing for
Loretta Lynn's. Michael also raced at Starwest last night where he
won all four motos he entered. He now has a plan and program to
allow his support group and himself to advance correctly.
Note: Mammoth Motocross is coming up, be sure to check
availability on entries although they may be full already.
Motocross Update:
5.11.2008
Motocross Training availability: We continue to receive emails on
attending the program and exactly how the programs success will benefit
a rider.
First, we are no longer accepting riders until July 2008. All of
the available openings have been filled as of this time.
If you would like to be placed on the acceptance waiting list you may
contact us at
MXTRAINER1@hotmail.com.
Note: we are only accepting quality riders with a minimum of
intermediate qualification at this time.
Motocross Update:
4.21.2008
Back from Vegas World Mini.
Vegas was windy with mild temperatures. The track is built with
unique dirt and riders have the option of pulling a hole shot and
winning or get a not so good start and have a hard time coming through
the pack. There is really nothing to separate the riders and the
track is fast, so a start was very important.
New MXtrainer rider CODY WOODWORTH came to
Vegas with just 2 weeks of physical and mental preparation using the
racer development program protocols. He came away with 2 solid
second place finishes in his Championship mains. And he was on a
125 Yamaha in the 250 class. Not too bad. Look for Cody at
L.L. and Mammoth.
Motocross Update:
4.07.2008
Riders continue to improve with the Racer Development Program.
Weston Peick won 3 of his 4 qualifiers at
Honey Lake and came from 19th to 5th after locking bars on the start of
one moto.
Weston Potter has been working hard getting
ready for 2008 Nationals at the end of this year. Weston came from
6th to 3rd in the lites qualifier at competitive edge with 42 riders on
the gate.
New Racer Development intermediate rider Preston
Tilford continues to move forward placing in the top 3 twice at
Honey Lake and Won his last moto at Competitive Edge Qualifier.
Isodoro Cheres won his first race at the
REM race at Glen Helen pulling 2 hole shots and finishing at the top of
his class.
Motocross Update:
3.07.2008
Shae Bentley and I have been working together for a few years and he has
become very ill in the last couple of weeks. He has been in the
hospital where surgery was performed. Keep him in your prayers, he
is tough and will be back working with the East coast riders in the next
couple of weeks. Hang in there Shae, you will be ok.
It has been some time since I last updated, sorry for the delay.
Everyone has been extremely busy getting ready for the upcoming season.
Another group of riders from Oregon just completed their testing and
evaluation in the Racer Development Program. Every rider learned a
substantial amount of information about who they are and how to attain
their goals. I look forward to their return visits after they have
completed their initial phases of training and practicing.
I was recently contacted by a team rider who wanted me to take over his
program but I have decided to eliminate the Supercross and National
training for the time being and focus only on the Racer Development
Program for the amateur athletes.
I will have the MXTrainer transport at most of the amateur Nationals
this year so do not hesitate to stop by and ask questions or just hang
out.
SPONSOR UPDATE:
We have been honored to bring on 5 major sponsors this year. All
have made major contributions to the program and believe in the ethics
and success that has produced many Champions and continue to bring out
the best in all who make the decision to step up their programs. I
look forward to a long relationship with these companies and individuals
and will continue my programs with the quality of expertise given in the
past.
Motocross Update:
Weekend Warrior "Road Warrior" Class C transport!
9.06.2007
We have received our Road Warrior transport from Weekend Warrior and are
in the process of having the graphics/logos placed. Thanks go out
to Gary Denton, Mike Beier and Mark Selsor for all of their help making
this happen. Don't hesitate to come over and take a look at this
unit, it is the most comfortable bike transport available. We will
have it available for viewing at Lake Elsinore MX, Perris raceway,
Starwest, Glen Helen, Competitive Edge and other local track in southern
Ca.
Alan Gerkey's MXtrainer Complete Training Program update:
9.06.2007
Our programs include track training, physical training and conditioning
and most importantly mental strategies to become a Champion now and in
the future.
We will be accepting applications for our program where the dedicated
racer will be placed on a list. After reviewing all applicants a
limited number will be given the opportunity to discuss their career
with Alan Gerkey where a plan will be put in place. Even when the
program is full, each rider will be contacted in the order in which they
signed up.
WESTON PEICK CONTINUES HIS WIN STREAK!
9.06.2007
Weston Peick won at Barona Oaks during the
prelim to the Mini National, even local pro Chris Johnson could not put
pressure on him. During this last weekend he won 3 motos and the
overalls in both divisions while local favorite Rutherford could not
keep the pace.
Today at the Glen Helen amateur National, Weston went 1-1 in the
intermediate class dominating both motos from start to finish. We
worked on dirt starts this week and they paid off with one 2nd and one
holeshot.
Watch for Peick in the future, with his hard work and the direction of
our training program, he is in line to win numerous Championships
during the 2008 season.
Loretta Lynn Amateur National Championship 2007
8.07.2007
The amateur season has come to a close with the
2007 running of the Loretta Lynn National.
Preparation for this race had riders practicing and training in the heat
of the day but at Loretta's you will encounter high humidity which does
not allow your body to cool down. The racing was great and there
were few major injuries. As always the racing was run on time and
everyone had fun.
We had 2 racers involved this year and both had
the initials WP.
WESTON POTTER: MX Lites A and MX Lites A
Pro sport.
WESTON PEICK: MX B Mod and Fourstroke.
Weston Potter has worked hard this past
year and it has paid off. Last year he was having trouble getting
a top ten in the intermediate class but after spending the year in Ca.
training he was able to place 6th in the Pro class where he came out on
top over 36 of the Nations best A riders. In his other division he
worked up to a top 10 finish.
Weston Peick came to me at 260 lbs
where he finished 20th at Mammoth last year. This year he we have
gotten him down to 217 and he finished 3rd Intermediate 450 and that was
with his fuel boiling.
At Loretta's Peick worked from the back of the pack to a 5th
overall in the four stroke class where the top three were pros.
Potter and Peick have both followed the "Racer
Development Program" designed by Alan Gerkey "MXtrainer" and the results
speak for themselves. I look forward to assisting both of these
riders into and through their National pro careers.
Both of these riders have shown that they deserve
the recognition the teams have given them after their solid rides.
Watch for both of these riders in 2008!

Here on the West coast Mr. Gerkey is working with riders looking to move
successfully into the Professional ranks.
"I put the Racer Development Program together after bringing two
different riders with unlike needs to Championship status. This
program was initiated in 2002 and has allowed many amateur MX athletes
as well as professionals to learn who they are as a racer. The
program is different than standard Motocross schools, in that it also
allows the "support group" (parents etc) to be involved and learn the
specifics of what is in store for them and their athlete at the Factory

Its Mammoth time again. The track is one of the best tracks in the
country and with the pro weekend being one off for the National
racers, many will use this race as a "staying in race shape" venue.
If you have never been to Mammoth you are missing a big part of what
Motocross is. Imagine a town that feels like everyone has
something to do with MX. It takes on a feel of its own.
Mountain biking, road biking, rock climbing, fishing and just having fun
are just a few of the things you can do while getting ready for your
race.
The many camping areas (full hookup or primitive) offer any MX
enthusiast a "family" feeling hard to match. Each area becomes a
small MX city and everyone seems to be relaxed and ready to have fun.
There are many restaurants that you will want to check out. Here
are a few:
The Stove, Perrys Italian, Robertos, Whiskey Creek, the Chart House and
Angels. You will not be disappointed with any of these choices.
I will try and update as the race days start.

| MX Lites While everyone is now talking about Ben Townley and his first AMA
National win of his career and how he will give Ryan Villopoto a run
for the championship this year, let’s take a look at what tale the
lap times tell.
In both Lites motos on Sunday afternoon it was the #1 of Villopoto
logging the fastest lap time of the moto. In the first moto, in
which RV won, he had a 2:20.801, which was over a full second faster
than second-place Townley’s fastest lap. In fact, the only riders
that had faster laps out of both classes in the first motos were
James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael. That’s yet another impressive
statement for the youngster from Poulsbo, Washington.
In the second moto it was much of the same, with RV’s fastest lap
being over a second faster than Townley’s, but BT101 was out front
and got the moto win and overall. But after seeing RV lay down lap
times like that, it has to instill some fear in the eyes of his
competition. Because looking back to last season, RV really got the
train rolling at round two in Mt. Morris.

But full credit to Townley: He was riding on the Hangtown track for
the first time, and his second moto lap times were consistently in
the XXX-range. Afterwards, he credited his trainer Aldon Baker for
his conditioning, a statement that would be echoed later by the 450
class winner!
Check out BT101’s second moto times, which were steady
enough to pull away from the rest of the pack:
Lap - Time 2 - 2:25.972
3 - 2:25.214 4 - 2:24.555
5 - 2:24.367 6 - 2:24.893
7 - 2:24.633 8 - 2:24.464
9 - 2:26.146 10 - 2:26.591
11 - 2:26.417 12 - 2:27.461
13 - 2:29.447 14 - 2:32.025
15 - 2:41.294
Biggest Surprise: For all the talk of how fast
Jason Lawrence was going through the pack on his way to the front
both motos, it’s kind of surprising that he only had the
fifth-fastest lap time in the first moto, and the fourth-fastest in
the second moto. However, the Hangtown track was at its fastest
early in each moto, which is precisely when the Yamaha of Troy rider
was still in traffic.

|
Broc Tickle was impressive at Hangtown |
|
|
It was also a nice surprise seeing North Carolina’s Broc Tickle
mixing it up and showing he belongs in the top 10 of the super-fast
Lites class. It was his first national competing in the MX Lites
class, and he was impressive on the Lucas Oil/Star Racing Yamaha.

What we witnessed this past weekend at Hangtown in the Motocross
class does come as a bit of a surprise to many, especially to those
of us who have experience riding and racing dirt bikes. Not
competing for a couple months should slow someone down, but not RC.
In both motos at Hangtown he was able to record the fastest lap
time, even though he was fighting with his bike setup all day. With
the first race out of the way, RC is returning a track that he’s
raced on his entire life—High Point Raceway. It looks like we may be
in for another battle of epic proportions, similar to last year.
It’s always fun to take a look at the lap times from the second moto
of the MX class, where the track is at its worst, being chewed up
and spit out by factory race bikes all day long.
Carmichael’s fastest second-moto lap time was a 2:21.094. James’
fastest time was a little over a second slower, and the third
fastest time came from Honda’s Davi Millsaps, but it was over four
seconds slower! One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi,
four Mississippi….. |

Daniel Sani just signed with the Lucas Yamaha team and represented the
team well by placing 3rd overall in the 250f class on Saturday.
Kevin Rookstool just took possession of his 450 Honda with Factory
Connection suspension and was able to charge to a 7th overall in the 450
class even though he has only ridden the bike 4 times. There were
58 riders on the line for this race, so posting over 51 other pros was
not too bad at all. Kevin will be ready for the Nationals coming
up in May.
Weston Peick took 2nd overall in the 450 intermediate class and almost
ended up 1st by pressuring Dean Wilson all the way to the finish line.
Freddy Sanchez recently started working with me again and he is back on
track with his training and track time. He is sponsored by Freek
racing and will be back on his program for the next few months. He
scored in he top 20 in both the 250 and 450 class.

Working with the Racers "HEAD".
Athletes in all sports have the need to be
mentally ready to attain their goals. Most "trainers" work with
the physical conditioning and/or the track techniques to help riders get
faster on the track. Physical training is a huge part of a riders
long term success in any sport and any track issues a rider may have
will improve with training at the track.
What usually goes undetected and uncorrected is the riders "mental
issues" that keep him from optimum performance.
What all Champions have over other riders is
they believe they are Champions no matter what happens. Is this
how you feel 100% of the time? If not you need to take a long look
at who you are and what you really want to attain.
Riders who have listened and believed in the
process have become Champions at the amateur and National level.

Freddy Sanchez, Weston Potter and Josh Lafountane were the dominating
factors in the pro classes at the L.L. qualifier at Arizona Cycle Park
this weekend. I have worked with all three of these riders and
they are using the direction to move them forward in their career.
Good job to all three of you.

Motocross "Power Camps" by RDP.
We have just completed another 6 day "Power
Camp" with a couple of riders from Oregon. Both riders will
now have a "roadmap" on their careers to work with while back at home.
These "Power Camps" continue to work for riders who are out of
the area and are not ready for a yearly RDP program. We look
forward to having previous "Power Camp" riders returning for
their next level training. These "Power Camps" are only
available certain times of the year based on the SX and MX season.

Travis Preston had a rough few weeks since his big crash at Anaheim 2.
He has been racing with a bruised sternum, separated ribs and multiple
contusions. We finally got a solid week of practice in and he
should be ready to go for Texas.
Kevin Rookstool has just started working on his SX career and will be
testing his new bikes getting ready for his first SX race at Atlanta.
Weston Potter is returning from a broken wrist and has made huge gains
in his cardio/strength and mental strength while off the bike. He
should be 100% by Mammoth but will progress through the Texas amateur
races.
Weston Peick has been training hard and the work has been paying off.
He had a nice write up in the last "Pinned" magazine. This kid is
starting to come around, watch for him.
Scott Martin has only been racing a few years and has had some ups and
downs. He has made the decision to give more of himself and he
came out with a hard fought 3rd at Cahuilla raceway this last weekend.
Scott won a National last year at Oakhill, not letting the wet and muddy
conditions slow him down.

We have been networking with other states and countries and have decided
to bring riders in for training. I worked with a rider in 03 by
the name of Craig Anderson. When he came to me he had crashed at
the Yamaha test track and ruptured his spleen, broken his wrist and a
number of other issues. His plan was to come back 100% by
Southwick. He did just that and WON THE SOUTHWICK NATIONAL.
Hard work and listening to direction allowed him to achieve his win.
We will have a new rider from Australia coming in for a few weeks and I
am sure he will have a good time and learn a lot of new techniques to
take home with him.
A couple of riders from Oregon have contacted me and should be here for
a week "power camp" to fine tune their skills.

we have time to set the dates.

Travis Preston charges to 4th at Phoenix SX.
Travis Preston continues to move forward. He had to work for a
fourth in his heat and when the main came around he spun badly off the
gate forcing him to start his charge from 15th. Travis put his
head down and picked riders off every lap including Tedesco, Byrne,
Windham and Team Kawasaki Tim Ferry. His hard charging riding
style put him close to Chad Reed who was running in third, but time ran
out and Travis had to settle for 4th.

Anaheim 1 had some great racing with Stewart taking the win followed
by RC, Reed and Preston.
Preston started in 7th and began picking riders off as the race
progressed. He was passed at the midpoint by Tim Ferry who had the
3rd fastest time of the night, but Travis came in on him hard before the
finish one lap later to pass Ferry and eventually pull away.
Preston was gaining 1 second a lap on Chad Reed who had pulled the hole
shot and was running in third. As the race went on Travis came
within 5 bike lengths but a last lap bobble in the whoops cost him and
had to settle for 4th. This should be a good year and we are
happy to be back with the Factory Connection team.

We have been extremely busy getting ready for the upcoming 07
Supercross season. Our other pros and amateurs have been pushing
hard getting ready for the amateur nationals.
We may have some big news on a new rider who has contacted us for
training. I will keep everyone updated as soon as we sign a
contract.
Travis Preston has made some changes this year. He will be
riding for his other team, Factory Connection this next year racing the
Supercross class on a Honda 450. Getting back with JC and the rest
of the team will be a
positive change and he is looking ahead to this years race
program. Look for a stronger and hungrier Preston in 07. He
has not come close to attaining his potential.
Travis Preston
Weston Peick has come on strong and placed well in the Mini O's in
Florida placing in the top in most of his intermediate classes.
His starts have not been the best as he had to come through the
pack from well out of 30th to get 2nd through 6th in his races.
This is in 4 to 5 laps! Good ride Weston.
Weston Potter, one of our newer pros was also in attendance, we do
not have all of the information, but will post as soon as he returns.
We had been working with Bradley Graham for a short time, where he
learned a lot of valuable information on racing Supercross. If he
takes this information and direction into the first race he will be
fine. Do to personal reasons, he was unable to continue with his
program. Hope all goes well with his season.
Kevin Rookstool is in Germany racing some of the SX and learning
the ropes. He has a mild injury keeping him from his potential at
this time, but look for him to turn a lot of heads with his talent and
speed once he is 100%.
Dane Jackson just came off the injured reserve list and apparently
has not lost any of his newly acquired speed. This is one tough
kid, watch for him in the pro class at Whitney.
Scott Martin has been working hard since his national win at
Oakhill this year. He will be racing local races getting
ready for the upcoming nationals.

Phoenix Supercross comes on strong!
Anyone who attended the SX this weekend had a great time. The
lites class had some of the best racing to date with KTM rider Nate
Ramsey coming out on top. Nate rode strong and consistent to
capture the win. The real battle was behind him with Andrew Short,
Grant Langston, Billy Laninovich and newcomer Ryan Villopoto
freight-training around the track trying to make something happen.
The track was fast and not as technical as Anaheim 1, but you had to
clear the sections and make sure to charge the whoops correctly to keep
your lap times down. Short came in looking for another win, but a
last lap take out by Langston would put Andrew behind both Langston and
Villopoto as the checkers flew.
In the SX class Travis Preston had the start but Bubba slammed into
him and this caused Bubba to go down. This left the door open for
Reed and RC to get out front. Reed led until he had trouble with a
tricky section that allowed RC to come inside and slam him before the
triple forcing Chad to double. It was all over after that, and RC
went on for the win followed by Chad and Bubba. One of the best
finishes was MC leading the race with an eventual 4th overall, great
ride Jeremy!
RDP notes: Dean drove to Phoenix with Kevin Rookstool and both
ended up at the go kart track. Travis Pastrana, Ashley Folec and
Sarah Whitmore were all there racing and having a great time.
Watch out for Ashley, this young MX racer is hell on wheels in a go
kart.
Racer Development Program 12.04.2005
We just returned from the Amateur Motocross National at Phoenix Arizona. The track is located
approximately 15 miles off the 10 freeway on 85 south. Irv Braun has put this race together and there were a lot of positive areas. The pits were set up with a clean organized look and had a good relaxed feel to them. The track is located in a huge pit like area which keeps the wind from becoming an issue and allows excellent spectator viewing. The race track was safe and allowed for some good racing although a few more lines would have been ok. One of our newer riders Jeff Meyers had never been to a National before, actually he had only raced 4 times prior to attending this race. He has been working hard and pulled two great holeshots that allowed him to win his motos and take home a huge 1st place trophy. He will be moving to the novice class to get ready for the Whitney Nationals this next March. Scott Martin, a new intermediate was able to come away with a 3rd place in the competitive 250 B class.
A press release will be sent out this week on our new program and how this can benefit riders looking to move forward in their careers.
Travis Preston is looking forward to a good year, having recovered from his previous injuries he is ready to contest the premier 250 class riding for team Honda. Having been off the bike 9 months prior to this years SX season it will be nice to come in a lot stronger and ready to race for the 2006 season.
